About Sandy Springs
Sandy Springs is centrally located between the city of Atlanta and the city of Roswell. The area includes lovely neighborhoods, quality schools, shopping, and recreation. Some of the largest corporations and major healthcare facilities in the region operate from Sandy Springs.

This combination of strategic location, economic opportunity and beautiful residences makes Sandy Springs one of the most desirable communities to live. The area is home to more than 85,000 people and provides its residents an easygoing suburban lifestyle in a vibrant urban setting. Two major highways- Georgia 400 and Interstate 285 intersect Sandy Springs. Four MARTA rail stations are available in the region to transport riders.

Sandy Springs originally was inhabited by the Creek Nation and the Cherokees. The Indian tribes ceded the land to the U.S. government in 1821 and Sandy Springs became a part of Fulton County in 1853. The community adopted its name from the local springs. These springs provided a place for weary travelers to quench their thirst on their way to Atlanta. The springs are located at what is now the corner of Hildebrand Drive and Sandy Springs Circle.

The Sandy Springs Historic Community Foundation, Inc. (renamed Heritage Sandy Springs) and the Sandy Springs Society have made considerable efforts to preserve the historical landmarks of Sandy Springs and to maintain the area’s small "hometown" feeling. The Williams-Payne House Museum, a farm house built in 1869, offers many exhibits and activities throughout the year, and the Wagon Stop House, built in the 1830's, still serves as a traveler’s rest stop. The Sandy Springs Foundation’s most popular event, the Sandy Springs Festival, is held annually.
